Notes From Scholarship Recipients
ALEXANDRA IACOB, 2009 Recipient writes:
21 October 2009
Dear family Best,
For the past week I have been trying to write you a note that would say "thank you”, "I am sorry for your loss” and "I will try to make you proud.” I have not been able to find an eloquent way to convey all this to you. When I met you, Mrs. Best, your emotional state showed me how difficult this was for you. I have not experienced such a loss, nor has anyone in my family so I could say "I know how you feel.” I can only imagine how hard the loss is on your family and offer my sympathy. After learning about your son, about his passions and his dreams I admire your decision to award this scholarship in his name. I am humbled to be chosen as one of the recipients. Your aid will help me pursue my dream, so similar to your sons, so I can go on myself and help others. I am eternally grateful to you: not only for the financial aid, but also about the compassion you have taught me in this act. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Alexandra Iacob

Howdy Dr. Kayron Dube!
This is Bhavini Patel. I am first year student at UT Southwestern Medical School. I am one of the recipients of scholarship from the Texas A&M Medical and Dental Society. I just want to thank you and the society for giving me the scholarship. I really appreciate your generosity and thank you very much. We just started our first day of classes today. I am really enjoying it here in Dallas. Hope you are doing well. My regards and thanks to everyone in the society.
Thanks,
Bhavini
Anna Diller 2006 Recipient Writes:
Things are fantastic! I love being in medical school. It's a very surreal experience at times, especially when I'm interacting with a patient or dissecting our cadaver. It's such a worthwhile challenge and I feel so blessed to have this experience. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. In a couple of weeks, I'll be traveling to Mexico for a medical mission trip, and I am currently planning to do clinical research this summer, with some time devoted to volunteering at a local shelter.
Receiving the scholarship money will be very helpful with making ends meet as our spring tuition payment is right around the corner.
