President's Letter 2007

President's Message
As the Texas A&M System Medical and Dental Society begins its seventh year I am proud to be a part of an organization that so positively reflects the unique and timeless tradition of the Aggie Spirit. The Society was formed with the intent of raising money to fund undergraduate scholarships for premed and predental students. It also provides a collegial venue for alumni to renew friendships, network with students, and earn CME credits.

To date, the society, through the generosity of members and friends,  has funded over $165,000 in endowed scholarships. These endowed funds are used to provide annual student achievement awards in the amount of $1000.
This past year the society presented three such awards to three outstanding premed and predental students.

Our success can not stop here. We must forge ahead to build our membership base and private donations. Every member counts and every dollar counts. If our society is to have continued success we must grow in size and dollars. I challenge each and every member to encourage a colleague to join, or gift a deserving alumni with a paid membership.

I also invite you to join us for our fall gathering. This annual event centers around an exciting football weekend and pre-game tailgate. It provides an excellent opportunity to meet and mentor the dentists and doctors of tomorrow.

For our members, don’t procrastinate, renew your membership and consider a scholarship pledge. For those of you who have not yet joined, I encourage you to do so today. Annual membership dues are $150, and donations are…well, whatever value you place on your professional heritage.
